Question

Can you name two liquids heavier than water? What will happen if water is poured in a container having any one of the liquids named by you

Open in App
Solution

Weight is not a property of a liquid, You must mean density here.
2 liquids which are denser than water are honey and mercury.
when you pour water into honey, it forms a layer over it.( since water is immisible in honey).
Methanol is another liquid denser than water, but water and methanol mix together to form a solution.
Hence, it is not density alone that determies whether water will float over a more dense liquid or not, the nature of the liquids is also important. You will learn more about this in higher classes
