Zinc carbon batteries:

  1. Zinc carbon batteries are primary batteries and they are dry cells.
  2. They consist of zinc can filled with zinc chloride or ammonium chloride aqueous plates which provide separation from graphite.
  3. Graphite is the carbon part of the cell in powder form.
  4. Now, as the zinc and carbon are present in dry form in the cell so they will not work even after recharging.
  5. So the zinc-carbon batteries cannot be recharged.
