Solution

Let the number of candidates from School C be x

Mean =No. of candidates × Score Total No. of Candidates

=60×75+48×80+x×55+40×50+50×6060+48+x+40+50

=4500+3840+55x+2000+3000198+x

=13340+55x198+x

Given, mean = 64.8

We get

13340+55x198+x=64.8

13340+55x=12830.4+64.8x

9.8x=509.6

x=509.69.8=52

Hence the number of candidates from School C = 52.
