Solution
The correct option is A Dynamism Many membrane proteins behave as though they were afloat in a sea of lipids. Membrane lipids are free to diffuse laterally in the plane of the bilayer and are in constant motion. The same is also true for proteins. Many but not all membrane proteins undergo rapid lateral diffusion. This type of movement is called as dynamism. It changes membrane permeability if the protein is responsible for intake or outflow of some solute. But there are many exceptions to this generalization. Some membrane proteins associate with adjacent membrane proteins to form large aggregates or patches on the surface of a cell or organelle, in which individual protein molecules do not move relative to one another.
