Let us assume that Car A takes T time to overtake and drive 8 miles ahead of Car B

Now, Distance Travelled by Car B in Time T=50T and Distance Travelled by Car A in Time T=58T
A must cover 28 km more than B for Overtaking by 8 miles as Initially A is 20 miles behind B.

58T50T=28
8T=28
T=3.5
