Question

car is moving in a circular path of radius 2m . Calculate both the distance and the magnitude of displacement the car after completing one revolution,2. One half revolution 3. One fourth revolution!union . What can you conclude about the relationship between the distance and displacement?

Solution

The radius of circle is 2

So the distance travelled by body in 1 revolution is 2πr=4π
circumference of circle
and displacement is the shortest path that the body travel so displacement zero when it complete one full circle

The radius of circle is 2

So the distance travelled by body in half revolution is 2πr÷2 =4π/2=2π i.e. half of total circumference of circle and displacement is the shortest path that the body travel so displacement is 2r=4

So the distance travelled by body in 1/4 revolution is 2πr÷4=4π/4=π i.e. and displacement is the shortest path that the body travel so displacement is 2√2

relationship between the distance and displacement
distance is always greater than or equal to displacement
