Question

Car wheels often spin on icy roads. Explain why.

Open in App
Solution

The reason behind car wheels spinning on icy roads is that friction is less.

Rubber tyres are designed to catch grip on any kind of surface.

But on too icy a road, the grip becomes less, causing the car to slide.

Also, the tyres take time to respond to brake and steering on icy roads.
