Question

Carbon dioxide doesn't form ionic compounds ? why?

Open in App
Solution

Carbon dioxide is a compound itself. Ionic or non ionic compounds are formed by elements or atoms of elements not by compounds.
Carbon as an element does not form any ionic bonds because it is smaller in size and removal of 4 electrons will require a huge amount of energy.
