Carbon monoxide:
The incomplete burning of fossil fuels such as petrol and diesel leads to the formation of carbon monoxide( $CO$ ).
Carbon monoxide is a highly poisonous gas. When inhaled, it combines with the hemoglobin present in the blood to form a stable compound called carboxyhemoglobin.
This reduces the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood.
Breathing in carbon monoxide causes headache, and dizziness and can even lead to death.
Therefore, carbon monoxide reduces the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood.
