Solution

Finding the probability of selecting a square number

From 2 to 101 the numbers which are square are:

4,9,16,25,36,49,64,81,100

From 2 to 101 there are 100 total numbers.

The formula for the probability is expressed as,

Probability=NumberoffavorableoutcomesTotalnumberofoutcomes

Substitute the number of favorable outcomes as 9 and the total number of outcomes as 100.

Psquarenumber=9100

Hence, the probability of getting a square number from the hat with cards numbered from 2 to 101 is 9100.
