Solution

The correct option is B False
All animals whether herbivores, carnivores or omnivores depend ultimately on plants for food. Herbivores eat plants and plant products directly. Carnivores eat only other animals. Omnivores eat both plants and animals.
Consider the following food chain:
Grass --> Deer --> Lion
Grass is a producer as makes its own food. This is consumed by deer. Deer is a herbivore. Lion eats deer and it is a carnivorous animal.
Every food chain starts from producers, that is plants. Rest all the components of the food chain depend ultimately on them for food. This is because if there will be no plants, then there will be no food for herbivores, and ultimately they would die. If this happens, consequently there would be no food for other animals. (carnivores and omnivores)
Moreover, plants release oxygen gas during photosythesis which is utilised by animals during respiration.
