Carry out the experiment for finding out the volume of a stone, in the laboratory. Describe your method.
Aim:- To find the volume of a stone.
Apparatus required: Measuring cylinder, thread, a stone, water
Procedure:
(i) Tie the stone to a thread.
(ii) Fill the measuring cylinder with water and mark the level of water say V1.
(iii) Gently lower the stone tied to the thread into the water until the water level become static.
(iv) Note the level of water after the stone is completely immersed in water. The new level of water is V2.
Calculation:
Volume of the stone is given by:
V = V2- V1
