Question

Case 1: Liquid pressure of 10 kPa acts on an body of area of 0.3 m2 in the sea.
Case 2: Gaseous pressure of 20 kPa acts on an area of 0.6 m2 of a container.

Solution

We know that:
Pressure = Force / Area
Case 1:
Force = Liquid pressure X Area = 10,000 X 0.3 = 3000 N
Case 2:
Force = Gaseous pressure X Area = 20,000 X 0.6 = 12000 N

Clearly, force is more in case 2.
