Oxyntic cells (parietal calls) are found in stomach. They are large cells most numerous on the side walls of the gastric glands. They are called as oxyntic cells because they stain strongly with eosin dye. They are called as parietal cells as they lie against the basement membrane. They secrete hydrochloric acid and Castle's intrinsic factor. Fat soluble vitamins are absorbed along with dietary fat, whereas water soluble vitamins are absorbed by passive diffusion. Vitamine B12 is absorbed with Intrinsic factor by forming a complex.
