The local hormones are released by the nerve cells and the glands. These hormones act on the same cells as well as on the cells which are near to the location.
CCK (cholecystokinin) is released from the cells of the small intestine and act on the pancreas and gall bladder to release the bile and digestive enzymes. Leukotrienes are the molecules which are released by the cells like macrophages, mast cells and other immune cells in response to the pathogenic antigen.
