Solution

The correct option is A True
  1. Cells can divide by two types of cellular divisions which are mitosis and meiosis.
  2. Mitosis is equational division because the number of chromosomes in daughter cells remains the same as that of the parent cell.
  3. However, meiosis is a reductional division because the number of chromosomes in daughter cells becomes half of the number present in the parental cell.
  4. Meiosis results in the formation of gametes which are the components of reproduction.
  5. But in unicellular microorganisms like bacteria, cell division by mitosis can be a reproductive division.
  6. It is because mitotic cell division in unicellular microorganisms results in the formation of two daughter cells which is a sort of reproduction i.e. production of offspring.

The given statement ‘Cell division by mitosis can be a reproductive division in living organisms’ is true.
