Question

Cell organelle where digestion take place in amoeba

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student
Amoeba is a microscopic single celled organism. Digestion in amoeba is intracellular taking place within the cell. Amoeba consumes the whole food through the endocytosis and digests the food inside the cell within the food vacuole. The food vacuole is combined with lysosome that contain the hydrolytic enzymes. These enzymes perform the breakdown of food particles . The digested food is then absorbed directly into the cytoplasm from where it will be distributed to the different organells.
