Question

Centre of mass is a special point on the body where we can forget the velocities of all other points on the body and consider only its velocity as the velocity for the body. So for a body undergoing rotational motion we can find the velocity of its centre of mass and forget all other velocities and treat it just like a translatory motion i.e, circular motion?

Solution

Yes in rotational motion we can find the point of centre mass and body will rotate about centre of mass but we have to find the angular velocity in place of linear velocity in rotational motion compared to translational motion.
One more condition is there external force must be zero than only body will rotate about centre of mass.
