Chalk, iron nail, wood, aluminum, candle, and cotton usually look different from each other. Give some properties by which we can prove that these materials are different.
These materials can be differentiated on the basis of lustre, hardness, softness, roughness, or smoothness. It is tabulated in the table given below.
Materials | Properties |
Chalk | The texture is rough and cannot be compressed |
Iron nail | Hard, low density, malleable, high conductivity, and lustrous |
Aluminum | Hard, ductile, malleable, and lustrous |
Candle | The texture is smooth, and it can be easily compressed. |
Cotton | Easily compressible, soft, and non-lustrous |
Wood | Incompressible, non-lustrous, and hard |
