The longest side of the triangle is called the hypotenuse. According to the Pythagorean theorem, the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the two other sides.
612=112+602
602+112=3600+121=3721
612=3721
3721=3721
Hence these length are Pythagorean triples.
