Question

Check whether division is commutative for two numbers 15 and 5.

Open in App
Solution

We know that commutative property over division does not hold true, that is
a ÷ b ≠ b ÷ a

Let's check this for two numbers 15 and 5.

LHS can be written as: 15 ÷ 5 = 3
RHS can be written as: 5 ÷ 15 = <!--td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}--> 13

So, we know that 3 ≠ 13

Hence, we can say that division is not commutative for the numbers 15 and 5. Infact it is not commutative for any pair of integers.
