Open in App
Solution

Quadratic equation:

Quadratic equations are the polynomial equations of degree 2 in one variable of type ax2+bx+cwhere a,b,c,R anda0.

On expanding,

(x+1)2=2(x-3)x2+1+2x=2x-6Note:(a+b)2=a2+b2+2abx2+2x-2x+1+6=0x2+7=0x2+0x+7=0

The above equation is in the form of ax2+bx+c=0, where a=1,b=0 and c=7

Therefore, the given equation (x+1)2=2(x-3) is a quadratic equation.
