Substituting $x = 5, y = - 3$ in $2 x + 3 y + 5$
$2 (5) + 3 (- 3) + 5 = 10 - 9 + 5 = 6$
$L H S = 6$ and $R H S = 0$
Hence $(5, - 3)$ does not lie on $2 x + 3 y + 5 = 0$
