Open in App
Solution

(a2+b2)x2+2(ac+bd)x+(c2+d2)=0
D=b24ac
D=4(ac+bd)24(a2+b2)(c2+d2)
D=4(a2c2+b2d2+2abcd)4(a2c2+a2d2+b2c2+b2d2)
D=4(2abcda2d2b2c2)
D=4(adbc)2
Since (adbc)2 is always positive.
Roots are not real.
They are imaginary.
