Chemically hormones are
Proteins, steroids and biogenic amines
Hormones are chemical messengers produced by the ductless glands and transported in the blood circulation to target cells. They regulate metabolic processes. Chemically hormones are of different nature such as biogenic amines (e.g., thyroxine, adrenaline etc), proteinaceous or polypeptides (like the hypothalamic hormones) and steroids (like the sex hormones and Adrenocorticoids).
