Carbohydrate is an instant source of energy. Glucose is a monosaccharide which enters the process of glycolysis, Kreb's cycle and electron transport system and produces energy in form of ATP. The excess of glucose in the blood is converted to glycogen in the muscle cells. The process of formation of glycogen is known as glycogenesis.
