Assuming that the reaction goes to completion, what mass of cone. HCI solution (36% HCI by mass) is needed to produce 2.5 g Cl2 ?

The correct option is A 14.3 g
4 moles of HCl give 1 mole of Cl2
or 4 x 36.5g HCl give 1x 71g of Cl2
Therefore, weight of HCl required to give 2.5 g Cl2
=4×36.51×71×2.5= 5.14 g
But it is 36% pure
Therefore mass of HCl solution required =100×5.1436 =14.3g
