Average atomic wt of chlorine has been calculated as follows

m1 = at. mass of 1st isotope (35); x1 = percentage or ratio of respective isotope = 3
m2 = at. mass of
2nd isotope (37); x2 = percentage or ratio of respective isotope = 1


Average atomic wt. = m1x1 + m2x2x1 + x2 35×3 + 37×1435.5
