Area “b”.


Only areas of the leaf containing chlorophyll can perform photosynthesis. Since, chlorophyll is a green pigment it imparts this green color to the leaf. Hence, parts of the leaf that do not have chlorophyll do not have a green color and appear white. Thus option A is correct as only the green areas (which contain chlorophyll) can perform photosynthesis.
