Given,

Cost of one notebook = Rs. p

$\therefore$Cost of 2 notebooks = 2 $\times$p = Rs. 2p

Cost of one pencil = Rs. 3

Total cost = cost of two notebooks + cost of one pencil

$\therefore$Total cost = Rs. (2p + 3)
