Two pipes A and B can fill a water tank in 20 and 24 minutes respectively and a third pipe C, can empty at the rate of 3 gallons per minute. If A, B and C opened together they fill the tank in 15 minutes. The capacity (in gallons) of the tank is.?

The correct option is A 120
Let the capacity of tank be 120 units. [LCM of 20,24& 15]
A does = 12020=6 units / minute.
B does = 12024=5 units / minute.
A and B together fIll 6+5=11 units/minute
When the leakage pipe C is opened,
12015 = 8 units of the tank is filled per minute
Hence, pipe C empties 3 units/minute
So, if pipe C alone is opened, the tank is emptied in 1203=40 minutes
Also, pipe C comes out 3 gallons/minute.
Hence, the total capacity of the tank 40 × 3 = 120 gallons
