The phenotype or the physical character is expressed as a result of the genotype of the specie. In the pea plants studied by Mendel various opposite traits were selected for representing the variation and relationship between the gene and its expression. The seed color was taken as green and yellow and seen that yellow was dominant over green. Similarly flower color violet was dominant over white and pod shape were taken as full and constricted were the former was dominant over the latter, The dominant genotype will result in the phenotype corresponding to it irrespective of the presence of the recessive genotype.
