Pulmonary circulation is the system of blood vessels that form a closed circuit between the heart and the lungs, as distinguished from the systemic circulation between the heart and all other body tissues. Deoxygenated blood leaves from the right ventricle through the pulmonary trunk which branches into the left and right pulmonary arteries to reach pulmonary capillaries in the lungs. At the lungs, blood gets oxygenated and returns to left atrium of heart via pulmonary veins
