The osmotic concentration of cell sap and sucrose solution are almost equal. Due to this, there is no net movement of water. Such solutions are called isotonic solutions. But when the same cell is placed in a sodium chloride solution (hypertonic), the volume of cell sap decreases due to exosmosis.
