The correct option is C The teacher asked Ria whether she had gone to the zoo the previous day
If the verb inside the inverted commas/quotation marks is in the present tense, change it into the corresponding past tense. If it is in the simple past tense, as is in the question, we change it into the past perfect tense. In accordance with this rule, option C is the correct answer.
Option A is incorrect because the verb in the quotation is changed to simple past tense and not past perfect.
Option B is incorrect because it has omitted the 'yesterday' part when converted into indirect speech. Another important thing to remember while converting direct or indirect speech is never to omit any part given in the original sentence.
