Solution

The correct option is A Statement 1 is true and statement 2 is false.
According to a folklore, it is believed that, back in 1670, in the hills of Chikkamangaluru, a Muslim Fakir (priest) named Bababudan planted coffee saplings for the first time. These hills came to be known as Bababudangiri later. However, it was British who initiated an organised cultivation of coffee back in 1826 in India.
