As more and more American soldiers died or got handicapped, their families started protesting against the American government. Mass protests began taking place across America, demanding an end of the Vietnam war. Though the USA had a law which required all able-bodied citizens to serve in the army for a short period, thousands of citizens refused to get drafted in the military to fight in Vietnam.
Some of these people were dubbed as unpatriotic citizens. However, the people who refused said that they were free to stay away from an unjust war. Eventually, in 1975, after months of protest, the American government was forced to end the war. America decided to call back its soldiers from Vietnam.
