Velocity of a wave on a string is given as (v)=Tμ
where T Tension in the string
μ Linear density of the medium.

i.e v1μ .......(1)

Let the linear density of the denser medium be μ1 and of the rarer medium be μ2.
From (1), we can conclude that, v1<v2
v1 velocity of wave in denser medium
v2 velocity of wave in rarer medium

Now, if amplitude of the transmitted wave is At,
At=(2v2v1+v2)Ai
v1<v2v1+v2<2v2
so, At>Ai

Hence option (a) is the correct answer.
