There are two reactions that are involved in the process of photosynthesis: Light-dependent and Dark or Light independent reaction. The “dark” in dark reaction is a misnomer as this reaction actually occurs in the daytime. It is called so because this reaction does not require the presence of light. The Calvin-Benson cycle which churns out glucose is a part of the dark reaction.
