i. The eggs of the silkmoths are carefully cultured under controlled conditions.
ii. Larvae or silkworms hatch from eggs
iii. The larvae feed on mulberry leaves
iv. Once the larvae have grown, they spin a cocoon of silk in order to metamorphose into an adult silk moth.
v. These cocoons are collected for the silk. The larvae are boiled and only the silk cocoons are used to collect the silk thread.
vi. Then the silk fibre is obtained from these cocoons.
