Choose the correct path travelled by sperm in the female reproductive tract.
vagina⇒cervix⇒uterus⇒ampulla
The sperm enters through the vagina since it accommodates the penis. From the vagina it passes via the cervix into the uterus. The egg which is released from the ovary travels through the fallopian tube. The fallopian tube is divided into 3 parts- infundibulum, ampulla and isthmus. The ampulla is the region of the fallopian tube where the sperm fuses with the egg. Hence, from the uterus sperm enter the fallopian tube and travel to the ampulla for fertilisation. The wall of uterus is divided into three layers - the perimetrium, the myometrium and the endometrium.
