The formation of the United Kingdom of Great Britain in 1707 meant the dominance of England on Scotland through the English supremacy in Parliament. The Act of Union 1707 led to the formation of the "United Kingdom of Great Britain". Before this there were two separate states, the Kingdom of England and the Kingdom of Scotland but with the same monarch. These two were united under one kingdom by the name Great Britain. This act also concluded that England can influence its effect on Scotland and so the British parliament was henceforth dominated by its English men.
