Displacement of a body can be zero.


The distance of a moving body is always positive and cannot be zero.
Average speed is the ratio of the distance moved to time taken. For a moving body, distance is positive and hence, average speed is also positive.

If the body moves back to its starting position, it's displacement is zero.
Average velocity is the ratio of the displacement to the time taken. Hence, for a moving body if displacement is zero at some instant, it's average velocity will also be zero.
