The correct options are
A Type I diabetes is insulin dependent diabetes mellitus and Type II diabetes is non-insulin dependent diabets mellitus
B Type I diabetes can be treated with insulin injections
D Type I diabetes is an autoimmune disorder
Two forms of diabetes mellitus are now recognized. People with type I,or insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. This form is due to destruction of the receptors for insulin on cells. It is an autoimmune disorder which results in insulin being relatively useless, as it is unable to pull glucose into cells without its receptor. They generally have normal or even above-normal levels of insulin in their blood, but their cells have a reduced sensitivity to insulin.Treatment for these patients, therefore, consists of insulin injections. Most diabetic patients, however, have type II,or non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus, lack the insulin-secreting β cells. These people do not require insulin injections and can usually control their diabetes through diet and exercise.
