Linear Pair :

When the non-common sides of a pair of adjacent angles are in a straight line, then the angles form a linear pair. Angles in a linear pair are supplementary. As shown in the figure below :

As 1+2=180°

So, 1 and 2 form a linear pair.

Hence if two adjacent angles are supplementary they form a linear pair.
