Choose the incorrect statement from the following statements
I) GFR in a healthy individual is approximately 125 ml/hr.
II) During urine formation, the tubular cells secrete substances like H+, K+ and ammonia into the filtrate.
III) On an average, 1100-1200 ml of blood is filtered by the kidneys per minute.
IV) Substances like glucose, amino acids, Na+ in the filtrate are reabsorbed by passive transport.
The correct option is D I and IV
GFR (glomerular filtration rate) is the amount of filtrate formed per minute by the glomerulus of the nephrons in the kidneys. In a healthy person, the GFR is about 125 ml/min which makes 180 liters per day.
In different segments of nephron, the tubular epithelial cells reabsorb substance either actively or passively. Substances like glucose, amino acids, Na+ in the filtrate are reabsorbed actively whereas the nitrogenous wastes are reabsorbed passively.
