Hardy - Weinberg’s principle states that the frequencies of alleles and genotypes in a given population are always constant until and unless there is change in gene pool due to external interferences. External influences include genetic drift, mutation, gene flow and genetic recombination etc.

Genetic recombination happens due to the mating of individuals outside the population, thus disturbing the allelic frequency in a population.
