We know that I = 1, V = 5, X = 10, L = 50 and C = 100.

Also, when a Roman numeral with the larger value is on the left, we add the values together and when it is on the right, we subtract the values.

CXXXIX = 100 + 10 + 10 + 10 + (10 - 1)
= 140 - 1
= 139

CLXX = 100 + 50 + 10 + 10 = 170

CXC = 100 + (100 - 10 ) = 200 - 10 = 190

LXXIV = 50 + 10 + 10 + (5 - 1 )
= 75 - 1
= 74

Since 74<139<170<190, we have 190 to be the largest.

That is, CXC is the largest among the given options.
