Solution

The correct option is B 8
Definition of a Monomial:–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Monomial is a type of expression which has only a single non-zero term in it. It consists of different parts like the coefficient, the variable, and its degree.

Identification of a Monomial:–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

A monomial expression must have a single non-zero term. The exponents of the term must be a non-zero whole number.

In option (a.), we are given with an expression p2. p2 is a monomial as it contains a single non-zero term and have exponents as whole numbers (p2 has exponent as 2, i.e., a whole number).

In option (b.), we are given with an expression 8. 8 is a monomial as it contains a single non-zero term and have exponents as whole numbers (8 has exponent as 1, i.e., a whole number).

In option (c.), we are given with an expression a+4b. a+4b contains two non-zero terms and hence, it is a binomial and not a monomial.

In option (d.), we are given with an expression 9m. 9m is not a monomial as it contains a variable in its denominator. Also, the exponent of the variable in 9m is not a whole number (Exponent of m in 9m is 1).

Therefore, option (a.) and (b.) are the correct answers.
