The stains help to distinguish different tissues and cells by developing specific colors. Staining of the nucleus or chromosomes is either accomplished using acetocarmine or Giemsa solution. Acetocarmine stains chromosome dark red. It is used to study chromosome during cell division. Safranin is used in gram staining. It stains gram-negative organisms pink.
